New Music: Diddy/Dirty Money’s “Angels” and “Love Come Down,” Ryan Leslie’s “You’re Not My Girl,” Jay-Z’s “Reminder”
As reported at Bad Boy Blog, the new singles from Dirty Money were released to DJs and the media this week. Dirty Money is the Diddy-led collective that also features solo artists Dawn Richard (formerly of the group Danity Kane) and Kalenna, a singer who has done a lot of songwriting for other artists.
The lead single for the album, “Angels,” samples the beat from Jay-Z’s “Where I’m From.” It also features a vocal from Biggie that was originally included on “My Downfall” from the rapper’s “Life After Death” album. The video for the song was produced by acclaimed director Hype Williams. They’ve released a trailer (see below), which really cool.
The mix show/club single, “Love Come Down” also features a Jay-Z sample, but this time it’s his vocals, specifically “show ’em how to move in a room full of vultures,” from “Izzo (H.O.V.A.)” The sample is genius and I am really loving both of these tracks.
One song that has been out for a while, that I’ve been enjoying is Ryan Leslie’s “You’re Not My Girl.” The music video has just been released and posted on his blog. Here it is:

Finally, Jay-Z’s latest album “The Blueprint 3” is slated for a September 8 release. You can listen to the whole album on Rhapsody. But, my favorite track on the album, by far is “Reminder,” where Jay bites back at critics, giving them a “reminder” of what he’s accomplished and where he came from.
Speaking of the Rhapsody promotion, they created an excellent commercial (found via Cara Donatto and thisis50) where Jay recreates all of his previous 10 solo album covers in the span of a minute. If you aren’t familiar with his album covers, you can follow along on Wikipedia.
