Patrick,

I'm the community fellow you refer to. I apologize for not getting back to you, but unfortunately, I never received your response. I doesn't appear to have gotten snagged by spam filters, but I'll look into it and make sure there isn't something on our end that's preventing you emails from getting to us.

Our Customer Advocate is currently researching your problem and will be sending you an email shortly.

TheLogistician,

In general, I agree with a lot of what you're saying. Personally, I had several bad customer service experiences this weekend and even canceled one service, because of it. I don't believe customer service is a myth, though. It may not be as universal as we'd like, but there are many companies who go above and beyond to provide the best service possible. 2CO aims to be one of those and places a high value on our customer service. That's why our Customer Care department is available by phone 24/7 and why we offer things like an open forum on our site and are increasing participation on third party sites like Twitter. This is also why we have introduced a full-time Customer Advocate to our staff.

Jim Jamesson,

I apologize if you didn't get the level of service you expected. If you ever decide to use your 2CO account again, I think you'll find we've made a lot of improvements in the time you've been away.

I have used these guys back in the day. I thought their rates and fees were outrageous when compared to other offerings, and I felt that their support was extremely sub-par. Funds were also held for excessive lengths of time in my opinion, sometimes for a couple of months.

The reason we signed up with them was also to accept cards outside of Paypal, mainly because several Dutch clients of mine (at the time) were for whatever reasons stopped using Paypal. When those clients recommended 2Checkout, I was surprised at the difference in rates, and had to hike the Dutch guys rates up quite substantially in order to compensate from the large % now kept by 2CO.

I ended up losing out on the Dutch clients' business because they did not want to budge on the price they paid me, nor did they want to use any other card processing company. Probably some shady stuff going on with them though, and in the end I was glad to stop using 2CO.

I also don't know if it's changed, but 2CO was insistent on contacting my first initial orders to verify they were not fraud. In my opinion, this made me look very unprofessional. I would not recommend 2CO.

Sure, it's a matter of principle, but...I don't get you. I run my own online businesses as also a traditional store and if I would spend so much time on $5 like you did, when during that same time I could have saved or earned a multiple of five bucks, then I would be wasting my time. I swallow and go forward.

Not that I'd ever want to accuse anyone of foul play, but I wonder how many such $5 charges get applied to accounts that either go unnoticed or people just pay thinking the error was their own.

$5 here and there can add up quickly with a database the size of 2CO

Hey Mr. Greene,

Thanks for the comment and your thoughts. :)

2Checkout.com has been around for quite a long time. From all indications, they are quite a successful business. Hopefully, this case is just an aberration.

Thanks,
