Driving Test #1: Failed

I took my driving test today and I failed. I didn’t even get to the driving portion of the test because I failed the written one, which was a little surprising. But, nonetheless, it happens. I’ll have a better chance next time, anyway.

There are 25 questions and you have to get 20 of them to pass. I got 18. :( Ouch. Like 4 of the questions I missed were things like “What happens if someone refuses a chemical test?” and “What percentage of highway deaths are caused by drunk drivers?” Penalties and statistics. I actually got most of the actual driving questions, but I missed a couple. 2 of them were a little tricky and the other one… I just missed. Only 1 test a day, but I can go back and test whenever. Not that big a deal.

That’s odd they make you do two tests. I only had a written test the time I got my permit and then a driving test to get my license…maybe it varies by state.

Ah well, the good news is they don’t change the questions so you’ll know what the answers are for next time. In NY if you fail the driving part of the test you can’t take another for like a month.

    Thanks man. :)

I actually don’t have a learner’s permit. I’m 22, so they said that I can just get my license.

Also, they do change the questions. Some, at least. I know because my younger brother (18) took the test, as well and he had a different test. We had some of the same questions, but many different ones. He missed by 1 on the written part, unfortunately.

Oh, that’s interesting, I didn’t realize you didn’t have to do the permit if you were a certain age (probably over 18 I’d imagine).

Yeah, they do have a few different questions that they give but it’s only chosen from a pool of about 50 total questions so the chances that you’ll get an entirely new test without knowing at least a good portion of ones you’ve done before is low. At least that’s how it is in NY.

I failed my driver’s test the first time, but I had a learner’s permit (I was 16) so I didn’t have to do a written test, but I failed the maneuverability portion and didn’t make it to the actual road test. Heheheh. But I pulled it all together and passed the second time, and I’m sure you will too now that you know what you face ;)

    hehe. Thanks guys. :)

Sorry you didn’t pass… when are you going to retake?

    Thanks. :) Today.
