3 (or More) Monitors?

Tuesday, April 11th, 2006

I made a thread at SPF to ask how people that have a 3 or more monitor setup work. i.e., how they use the monitors to increase productivity, make things easier, etc. I’ve been thinking about it lately (I blame Bill Gates for that). i.e., getting a 3 monitor setup when I buy my next PC. The thing I gather is that the increase in productivity mainly comes from not having to minimize windows to move to other windows… anyway, I’m just thinking about it and trying to determine whether or not it’s worth it. So, if you have a setup like that, feel free to comment here or there. :)

Phosphor

Saturday, April 8th, 2006

Ever since this game was posted on Download Squad, I’ve been playing it on and off and I have to say that I have really got some enjoyment out of it. If you need a break and want to play around with something for a few moments, check it out. Takes a few seconds to learn, but after that, it’s quite fun. I’ll be interested to see how it progresses.

Tips:

1. Listen.
2. When someone is on the elevator, shoot them.
3. A weapon combo of the rocket launcher and the machine gun is ideal. Those are your two main ones The simper rifle actually is useful (accurate zooming), as well, while the blue lazer thingy just isn’t. But, collect all of the weapons that are in your path and don’t forget to get life. That way, when you run out of ammo, you will always have something, even if it is the blue lazer one.
4. When someone has a machine gun and is shooting at you, look out.
5. When engaged by an enemy, keep moving. Move and shoot. Or you are dead. Often it can help to get real close to them and just keep circling them while shooting.

I turned Last.fm back on. I’m sure everyone wanted to know that. Thank goodness this blog is not a part of my network.

I launched phpBBHacks.com five years today. It’s a special site. :)

Funny Weather

Wednesday, April 5th, 2006

So, yesterday, we had some snow flurries, but nothing that could accumulate. I go to bed and wake up and what do I see? Snow. It’s snowing fairly hard and it’s all white out. Enough accumulation to make the entire lawn look white. Then, later, warmer and the sun comes out. Now, it’s 4:30 PM and I look out and it’s like it never snowed.

How Bill Gates Works

Wednesday, April 5th, 2006

Fortune has a piece by Bill Gates on how he works, productivity wise. Nothing too revolutionary, of course, but I found it interesting, so I thought I’d pass it on.

Social Bookmarking

Tuesday, April 4th, 2006

So, I’ve been doing some stuff with social bookmarking and what not. It occurred to me the other day that I had never checked to see if my sites had been bookmarked by anyone, etc. Things like that are cool to me. I remember when I found my sites on StumbleUpon. I thought, “hey, that is cool!” phpBBHacks.com and KarateForums.com. The thought of someone liking my site enough to… do something like that is cool to me, for whatever reason.

Anyway, I did some searches and found that 101 people have bookmarked phpBBHacks.com on del.icio.us. I thought that was pretty cool. (Let’s see how many times I can say cool in this entry. sigh). So, I am thinking of integrating buttons for the more popular bookmarking sites only (not news sites, like digg) into some pages on my sites. For instance, the download pages at phpBBHacks.com, like this one (one of the greatest hacks ever created :)). Maybe forum threads. But, is it a good idea? Is it a waste of space? Are the bookmarking sites benefiting much more from me linking to them than I could possible recoup? I am not sure that forum threads is a good idea, but I think the phpBBHacks.com download pages do make some sense. People could bookmark their favorite hacks, templates, etc. But, I’m honestly not positive. I’m thinking about it.

Let me know what you think.

iFroggy Network MySpace

Saturday, April 1st, 2006

I just created a little iFroggy Network MySpace. Not sure what will come of it (if anything), but I figure it can’t hurt, so I went ahead and set it up.
