3 (or More) Monitors?

I made a thread at SPF to ask how people that have a 3 or more monitor setup work. i.e., how they use the monitors to increase productivity, make things easier, etc. I’ve been thinking about it lately (I blame Bill Gates for that). i.e., getting a 3 monitor setup when I buy my next PC. The thing I gather is that the increase in productivity mainly comes from not having to minimize windows to move to other windows… anyway, I’m just thinking about it and trying to determine whether or not it’s worth it. So, if you have a setup like that, feel free to comment here or there. :)

I have 2 at work and at home and I don’t know how anyone lives with just 1. I’m getting a new computer soon and I’ll be adding a 3rd to my home setup.

Being able to read/monitor one one and "do" stuff on the other two is ideal. I don’t have a set thing for each monitor, I don’t work that way. Just when I’m working on a site, for example, I can have up html / photoshop and ftp all at the same time, etc. Just depends on what I’m doing, but more screen = more productivity.

I’d love to be able to do this but I don’t have the money on me :( It’s a cool idea though and I’d love to do it in the future.

A lot of what the SitePoint guys were saying is what I would probably do. One with my browser up, one with IM/Music/Other less important stuff, and one with coding/developing type stuff up. That would seem to be the ideal situation for me.

Just out of curiosity, how does one go about setting something like this up anyway?

I’d love to have 2 or more monitors, but my computer is too out of date to do that. :D

I couldnt live without dual monitors. Even though I’m on my laptop most of the time, I have a 19" LCD that extends my 15" laptop screen, giving me dual monitors. I’d love a triple-monitor setup, or just an Apple 30" Cinema display… but 2 works fine for me.

I keep my planning, correspondence, email and contact management software open in one monitor all the time. I open major programs, like Photoshop or TextEdit in the other.
