Jury Duty
This morning I received a summons for jury duty and I am supposed to appear in January. That date probably won’t work, so I will probably postpone to a little later. My mom has never received a jury duty notice and neither has my dad, but I’m eligable for 3 years and I get one. Should be… interesting.
Edit: From the booklet: 95% of people selected serve 3 days or less. 80% of people select serve 1 day. 50/50 shot at actually being selected as a juror on a trial.

Well, you may or may not be able to get out of it for January. I had Jury Duty and even got a note from my employer asking for it to be postponed but they didn’t allow it. I sat for 2 whole days just waiting on jury selection. They finished selection before I was ever even called though, so I didn’t have to serve.

I’m fine with it, I just won’t be able to do it on that day. I can reschedule to any business day in the next 12 months, so I’ll do that.

Heh. I think they will ask you if you watch CSI or any other cop/forensic shows so you can’t out smart the experts or make comments from a TV show. :\

There were some articles recently about the CSI phenomenon making cases much harder on prosecutors. Very, very interesting stuff, and I’m not surprised a bit.
