Bad TrackBacks
So, I wrote a post over at MB about the Xbox 360 and mentioned a Microsoft MVP who had mentioned something on Robert Scoble’s blog. I get a TrackBack from someone who works in marketing at Microsoft (according to their blog) and when I view the entry, I see he mentioned the MVP that I did, but he didn’t mention or link to my blog in any way. Er… thanks… *TrackBack deleted*…

I’ve had the same thing happen on one of my blogs. Pretty damn stupid, and it was almost spammer-like. The entry wasn’t spam at all, but they didn’t mention my blog at all. Only the subject was alike.

Keep in mind that some blogging software automatically finds other entries related to the same thing and trackbacks them.

I didn’t realize that. That’s spammy blog software.

Sorry, Patrick, it was human error, not trackbacks gone awry (though I do get a bunch of them, too). I was writing a draft of an article linking to your post, and copied the trackback URL into the wrong article… :(

There you go, making me feel all bad… lol. Well, my comment stands for people who actually do this on purpose. ;)
But, I appreciate you saying that. No biggie, don’t worry about it, I’m sure I’ll do it myself if I haven’t already…
Feel free to send me one if you ever happen to mention one of my entries. :) How did you happen across this blog entry?
