Final Thoughts on Canon Issue
May 17, 2005
This morning I approved the domain name transfer to mark an end to the “Canon issue.”
As I said in the comments for the last entry, this doesn’t really change my domain name selection process. I want to make one small addition to that statement – it does for shop only sites. I don’t think I’ll do it again for a domain that is strictly a shop. As far as communities, blogs, etc… it doesn’t change anything for me.
If this site had been a community (forums, blog, etc.) for Canon fans, I hold out hope that Canon would have acted differently. But, seeing as it was strictly a shop, which can only have so much personal feeling in it… I can more understand their course of action.
Anyway, done deal.
Edit: Oh, yeah. I decided that I would like to try to launch a camera shop in the near future for all brands (including Canon) and I picked up a domain. CameraBlast.com.

Patrick,
Glad to see you are agreeing with what I thought was your best course of action. I posted at chrispian that I thought they ( Canon ) would be cutting off their nose to spite their face. You have traffic and buyers that you can sell any brand to…might we suggest another brand besides theirs ?
Good Luck,
Mike
