ALCS Game 6 Thoughts
Yankees lose. Some thoughts…
Bernie homered. He has gotten a hit in all but one postseason game this year.
Cairo was the only Yankee with 2 hits. He also scored the 2nd and final run for New York.
Lieber pitched solidly and the pen came in and allowed nothing in the final 1 and 2/3. We were able to give Mo and Flash the night off.
As far as the A-Rod play… the umpires made the right call, but it really wasn’t that bad. I mean, he just should have knocked Arrojo flat on his face since he was in the baseline. Of course - what would that have created? A brawl? Benches clearing, at least. So, either A-Rod stands there and lets him tag him or we get criticized in some way. But, next time - plow him over.
What’s the deal with Jeter going to FIRST on that play, anyway? He should have been at least awarded second. It is in the rules. I guess it is to penalize those who “interfere”. But, maybe it should be in judgement of the ump as to what base the runner would be on if the play had gone without interference (Jeter would have obviously had second).
I was kind of curious about Joe Buck and Tim McCarver’s descriptions of Yankee Stadium as dangerous after the call. I realize I am only seeing what they show on TV, but I didn’t really see that much going on there (danger wise).
Oh well. Take a deep breath. Yankees - Red Sox, Game 7 at the stadium. This is it.
Go Yanks.
