Wal Mart
June 3, 2004
Reading this thread at SitePoint about Wal Mart selling websites…
I don’t have a problem with it. It’s nothing that other companies haven’t similarly been doing for a long time. I like Wal Mart, so why not. If you have a dominant position, you should use it. They worked for it – nothing is handed to you. They earned that position.
I don’t see a “lack of quality” in buying some things at Wal Mart as opposed to somewhere else. Different stores (including Wal Mart) have different and (sometimes) better things. Not one store has every best thing. That’s just the way it is. By and large, Wal Mart sells quality, value conscious products.
If people look at what Wal Mart offers and decide that that is what they are look for, that’s cool and fine with me. The people who would pay companies like 37 Signals are not going to be looking for a website at Wal Mart.
