Yankees without Steinbrenner?

May 4, 2004

Just finished reading this article, which talks a bit about what the Yankees will be doing after Mr. Steinbrenner leaves/passes on.

It’ll be tough – impossible? – to get an owner who does more or cares more than him. He’s made mistakes, as anyone does, but he is one of the greatest owners in the history of professional sports. He goes all out and he spends money, because his team makes it – because the fans give it to him and he puts it back into the team. Novel concept. If we had a league full of George Steinbrenners, we’d have a league far better off.

Me, I’m just going to enjoy the rest of his tenure (doesn’t mean I won’t criticize).
