New Design for Jeremy’s Blog

My personal blog
Just a quick note to recognize Jeremy’s new design. I have mixed feelings and I see a few bugs, but I am sure he’ll get them all worked out. Either way, a fresh look usually can’t hurt.

The Yankee bats… those Yankee bats… they came alive. After getting swept by the Red Sox, the Yankees didn’t seem to be getting any breaks, having to face the dominant threesome from Oakland. Zito, Hudson and Mulder (I actually have Zito and Mulder’s autograph - along with Billy Koch, on the same ball). But, they did it. They got 4 ER out of Hudson in 7 innings, 4 out of Mulder in 6 and 6 out of Zito in 6.
Also of note, Jeter broke out of his (0 for 32) slump tonight by taking the first pitch from Zito into the stands. Bernie also hit his first homer.
After reading this article and watching an interview on ESPN today, I have went from really liking Dolphins defensive end Adewale Ogunleye to now thinking that they should just let him walk, if he doesn’t adjust his attitude.
I am seeing a guy who is not giving the end on the other side, Jason Taylor, enough credit. Taylor is one of the reasons that he can command so much money and act in such a way. The Dolphins offered him a 1.8+ million dollar, 1 year contract and he says he won’t sign it. He’s willing to sit out ten games and then “make himself available” for the last six. If he does that, that is when I tell him to jump in a lake.
I am pretty sure that when the Dolphins signed him and he spent 2000 rehabilitating his knee, that still paid him (correct me if I am wrong). It’s like anything else. You have a great year and you want to be paid. But, what if they give you this contract and you finish with 5 sacks instead of 18? Can they, then, cut your contract by 75%?
I just got an IM from someone I kind of know:
Now, putting aside the fact that I very rarely brag about the Yankees or put down other teams for that matter… and assuming it is true… let’s just hope we make some history this year.
I had someone add me to their MSN Messenger list the other night and then they said something to the tune of “I’m sorry for adding you to my MSN without prior notice. My nickname on SiteName.com is XXX.” Sorry for adding me? Who the heck am I? The Pope? Firstly, I said hello to the guy and assured him that he had nothing to be sorry about. He seems like a pretty nice guy.
But, such is the environment that some people (even staff members), within a specific community that I know of, encourage. They put things like “Contacting me privately will get you a warning” in their signatures. To me, this is offensive - and shocking. None of my staff members will ever be allowed to have such a thing in their signatures. If you don’t want people to contact you privately, don’t make private information public. Putting such rude, even scary, messages is uncalled for, in my opinion.
Well, here you go. I’m blogging now. So, welcome. Hopefully, I’ll enjoy it and it’ll be a daily thing.
I am 22 years old (born on November 21, 1984) and I currently reside in Harbinger, North Carolina, U.S.A., although I have lived in Florida, Mississippi, New Hampshire and Massachusetts, as well. I was homeschooled for all grades right through high school, have been using computers since 1993 (our first computer was an Apple Macintosh Centris 610) and have been “professionally” developing websites since 1998.
I own the iFroggy Network, which includes the iFroggy Network Blog, iFroggy Hosting, SportsForums.net, KarateForums.com, MAWarehouse.com, YanksBlog.com, MarianoRivera.com, PhinsBlog.com, phpBBHacks.com, DeveloperCube, WebDevBooks.com, CommunityAdmins.com, CommunityPromotion.com, PhotoshopForums.com, MicrosoftBlog.com, CameraBlast.com, BuyBlenders.com, BuyCheeses.com, SodaRatings.com, DrGregHouse.com, Bad Boy Blog and BadBoyForums.com. I bought my first domain name, ifroggy.com, on January 1, 2000. It started as an “everything portal” of sorts with a fair bit of unique content, but, in time, I saw that that was not the way to go. 2001 was the year that my network really started to take shape with the launch of phpBBHacks.com in early April and the launch of KarateForums.com on May 21. They are my two most popular sites. As time has gone by, I have launched various sites that have achieved success at differing levels and my network continues to grow.
My most popular site is phpBBHacks.com, which is the definitive phpBB resource and the leading source of phpBB hacks, templates and related downloads. It is a great source of pride for me. When we launched, we had to deal with so much dversity and we still have to deal with a little over it, even today, but we really did succeed in a big way and that’s awesome. Part of that success is our support forums, which were started after the site had been launched in order to serve as a place that users could get friendly, respectful answers to their phpBB related questions – the type of support that is still fairly scarce today.
The staff members on my sites are great. It is amazing just how much some people can do and I am eternally grateful for them.
Speaking of staff, I am also on staff at Top Hosting Deals (Super Moderator) and the SitePoint Forums (Advisor). I do a lot of writing. I have written many articles/editorials on sports and web development as well as product reviews and other things. I have written for many sites, including SitePoint.
Previously, I hosted The Community Admin Show on The Podcast Network. It was a bi-weekly podcast where I talked about internet community management related issues. It may or may not return in the future.
As for my personal interests, I enjoy sports, investing, writing (again), gaming (when I have time), reading, in addition to other things. Most of my computer time is spent on an HP Pavilion a750y with a cable connection. I have a digital camera (Canon Powershot A80) and a handheld (Palm Tungsten T3) which doesn’t get very much use. I also have a Compaq Presario V2000 laptop that goes with me when I am away from home.
Favorites
Movies: I am never good at this question because I am odd. I can watch pretty much any movie and enjoy it in some way. There are so many good movies. That said, some of my favorite actors/comedians (in no particular order) are Jim Carrey, Robert De Niro, Will Smith, Adam Sandler, Tommy Lee Jones, Bill Murray…
TV: I don’t watch a lot of TV, but I do enjoy The Simpsons, Family Guy, The War at Home, House and 24.
Reading: I’ll read whatever is lying around. You can get a lot of free magazine subscriptions online, so we have various magazines coming here at various times and I’ll read whatever comes in. The Week, The Sporting News, Golf Digest, R & I, The Source, MeetingNews, TV Guide, whatever.
As far as books, pretty much the same thing. If I feel like reading, I read. This includes going into old books that aren’t even mine and reading. I’ve read Steven King and Alfred Hitchcock because of this. One series I can say I do like is the Harry Potter series.
Music: Lots of stuff in many genres. But, with a heavy lean toward Diddy and many of the artists (or former artists) on Bad Boy Records. But, I also like plenty of other things… Aerosmith, Good Charlotte, Will Smith, Saliva, Weird Al, Fabolous, Eminem and more.
Video Games: I have always been a Nintendo fan. The Zelda series is one of my favorites. Metroid Prime is one of my favorite games ever. Electronic Arts (EA) games are also great. We’ve got an NES, SNES, N64, GC, GBA and GBA SP. As as a few of the old Ataris.
Clothing: Sean John. I have plenty of other things here and there, but Sean John is my favorite.
Food: heh, I’m sure everyone is curious about this…
Anyway, lots of seafood (shrimp, lobster and crab especially). I don’t eat much in the way of red meat, so anything I mention that includes meat is either Chicken or Turkey. Tacos, Caesar salad, potato salad, cole slaw, various types of sandwiches, clam chowder and more than I can remember.
I eat as much candy as I can. Sweet Tarts are one of my favorites. Skittles, Smarties, gummy worms/bears, chocolate, etc.
Drinks: I drink a lot of water. But, I do like soda a lot. Coke, Cherry Coke, Vanilla Coke, Mountain Dew and Dr. Pepper are my favorites. I’m a big Coke fan, but I’ll drink Pepsi and it’s variantes and most of the time, end up drinking store brands (Sam’s Choice!).
MLB Team: New York Yankees
MLB Favorite Player (Current): Derek Jeter
MLB Favorite Player (All-Time): Don Mattingly
NFL Team: Miami Dolphins
NFL Favorite Player (Current): N/A
NFL Favorite Player (All-Time): Dan Marino
Favorite Golfer: Tiger Woods
Anyway, that is all I can think of. If you want to know anything else or have an idea for something I could add here, please contact me.
